Intense Great Blue Heron Busta Move
Rain started to fall as I strolled the nature trail along the banks of the Don River.
It’s a trail that I have frequently hiked seeking camera subjects.
Rain intensity increased and I was wet, cold and shivering. Thankfully my camera gear was protected in its own gear backpack.
I felt envious.
The parking lot was a few minutes away at a good stride.
I could hardly wait to examine the photos on my camera, but there’s no choice.
Once there, I could change into dry clothes with the car heater on full blast.
It was so humid out, high heat and short lived summer rain showers.
I have a few favorite birds that give me a sense of joy when I find them.
They are the bigger species, egret, swan and this bad-boy here.

The Great Blue Heron took a walk to investigate around the river edge after the first storm petered-out.

This was the second time today I was caught in the rain, enduring the first, because of big-boy-blue.
‘Busta’ was the given nick-name, because of the move that was displayed.
Their demeanor, in a normal waiting for a taxi stance, long neck tucked in with hunched shoulders, was more exaggerated.

The rain had dampened the feathers, that I now wanted to fluff-up and dry, with a nice, warm bath towel.
But I knew he wouldn’t let me – at least the thought was there.
Hey, it’s part of being empathetic.
I found this one sheltering during the first cloud burst, on the other side of the river. We were both soaked to the skin. But I was delighted at the sighting, as long as my camera gear didn’t suffer.
‘Busta’ gave a few rotational shakes.
It looked like he’d plugged into an electrical socket.

Something intriguing must have been spotted in the river below.
‘Busta’ flew-hopped onto an overhanging fallen tree, [the type fisherman hate] to get a better view.
Then went into this striking pose.
